The product has been specially designed to be applied on difficult timber such as tropical hardwoods. Most exotic woods (particularly Iroko, Merbau, Ipe and Teak) can contain large amounts of resins which often cause such problems as delaying the drying time of an oil, pronouncing surface defects and giving an uneven appearance on the surface of the wood. An application of Prim'Oil will prevent these side-effects from affecting the top coat. Blanchon Prim'Oil should only be used internally on parquets, wood floors, cross-grained wood flooring and interior woodwork before oiling. It's high water repellency makes it ideal for use in areas subject to high levels of humidity such as kitchens and bathrooms. Preparation Ensure that surfaces to be treated are clean, dry and free from any dust, dirt or other surface contaminants. For the best results, the moisture content of the wood should be less than 10%. Old Timber Sand old wood flooring back to bare wood with 24 or 36 grit paper, then with a 50 or 60 grit and finish with a 100 to 120 grit Then treat as New Timber New Timber Sand back new or bare wood with 120 grit paper Carefully vacuum the floor removing all traces of sanding dust Any resinous or oily deposits should be cleaned away with a suitable solvent such as Morrells Cellulose Thinners To stain wooden floors and other interior wooden surfaces prior to oiling, consider Blanchon Wood Reactive Stain, Blanchon Wood-Ageing Agent or other suitable wood stain or dye.
